Blake

One minute Blake was staring, a little amazed, as he watched Sean’s entire face light up with delight. The next, he was thinking it was a shame people didn’t get to see that look on him all that often. When he realized that despite how rare it was, he had been the cause of Sean’s dark eyes brightening, and soft crinkling at the corner of Sean’s eyes, he’d known what he was going to do only a split second before he reached out.

And then he was kissing Sean, and neither of them were moving, unsure what to do. It was Sean who relaxed first, gently pressing into the kiss and curling his hand around Blake’s arm. The sudden grip on his elbow was enough to break Blake out of his trance, and the moment slammed into his thoughts.

He was kissing another man, and in fact, had done so willingly. Not only was it another guy, it was Sean. That thought was both the motivator for pulling Sean in just a little closer, deepening the kiss, and the reason his head was spinning at the thought. Somehow who it was, made the action as enticing as it was bewildering.

Just as he had been the one to start it, Blake was the first one to retreat, slowly pulling away. Sean’s eyes opened once Blake was half a foot away, dark eyes intense as they searched Blake’s face. He knew the other man was probably trying to read his expression, gauging the emotional weather before stepping out into the storm.

“Okay,” Sean said slowly, tilting his head. “I guess you did enjoy the attention. More than you let on.”

Blake let out a surprised huff of laughter, settling on the loveseat. “I suppose that’s one way of looking at it.”

“It does beg the question of just where that came from, though,” Sean pointed out, watching Blake carefully.

Blake shrugged, unsure how to answer that. Sure, he knew what had triggered it, but he hadn’t known it was in him to even follow through on kissing Sean, let alone to just simply do it.

Ash’s words had stuck with him for the last few hours of the party. And while he hadn’t let it interfere with socializing, teasing Eric, or trying to get a rise out of his brother, the words had been stewing in the back of his mind the whole night. There had been some truth to her words, and while he wasn’t going to admit that to her and risk her never letting him live it down, he had acknowledged it privately.

“Am I allowed to get back to you on that one?” Blake asked with a wince.

Sean hung his head, shaking it. “Of course, you couldn’t just have an answer ready. The thought just entered your head, and you went and did it, didn’t you?”

Blake gave him a half-smile, echoing Sean’s earlier words. “Yes...and no.”

It hadn’t been his plan for the night, and in fact, he suspected he might deal with Ash’s advice and his own thoughts and feelings somewhere further down the line.
